In her day job, Jennifer serves as a the Associate Dean for Career Services and Director of Trial Advocacy at the University at Buffalo School of Law, where she also teaches several trial, litigation, personal injury, and health law classes. She also remains an active trial lawyer with the law firm of Duke, Holzman, Photiadis & Gresens, LLP. In her private practice, Jennifer handles personal injury, employment, defamation, and Anti-SLAPP matters, as well as representation of professionals, including a significant amount of health care work. She also conducts human resources and employment law trainings. Jennifer helps people who are physically injured in serious accidents to get justice and those who are survivors of serious discrimination and harassment to hold their abusers accountable.
Jennifer has successfully represented clients in state and federal courts, including trials, appellate proceedings, arbitrations, and mediations. Committed to providing compassionate, responsive, and aggressive service, Jennifer prides herself on excellent client relationships and outstanding results.
Jennifer’s passion for excellence in her representation of clients is matched by her love of legal education, teaching advocacy, and helping students succeed with post-graduate careers. In 2018, Jennifer was awarded the Ken Joyce Excellence in Teaching Award by University at Buffalo School of Law. She also has been named Medical Partner of the Year by the Center for Elder Law and Justice in 2016 and was among the 2015 Legal Elite Leaders by Buffalo Business First.
Jennifer has been named a Fellow of the New York State Bar Foundation and has been selected to the 2022, 2023 and 2024 Upstate New York Super Lawyers list.
Jennifer is an avid fan of watching law related movies and television shows (when she is granted a reprieve from Paw Patrol), traveling to Maui, California, and Las Vegas, listening to legal podcasts, reading (including audiobooks), and shopping way too much.
In her day job, Lisa is a Director of Career Strategies at the University at Buffalo School of Law, where she counsels students on professional development and career placement and helps to strategically align the goals of employers and students. Lisa also coaches trial teams. She previously served as the Director of Externships. She published the article “Carpe diem, carpe experientiam… seize your externship experience through electronic billing!” in Clinical Legal Education Association Newsletter (December 2014).
Lisa is a resume writer for attorneys nationwide through Wilbanks Consulting.
Lisa was in private practice for more than a decade, focusing on highly complex insurance coverage litigation in BigLaw both in New York City and Buffalo. Bauer received her B.A. in Humanities and Spanish from Loyola Marymount University, cum laude, and her JD from Syracuse University College of Law, magna cum laude.
Lisa enjoys spending time with her daughter, watching the buffalo bills, and all the law and order series.
